by design episode #38: Pastor Josh Reasoner // What About Repentance?

This week on { by design } we chat with the brilliant Josh Reasoner about repentance and what that looks like in the life of a believer. Josh is the Pastor of Family and Children’s Ministries at Calvary Church in Valparaiso, IN where he lives with his wife Christy and their three sweet kiddos. Josh also holds a BS in civil engineering and is currently completing his MA in Christian Studies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

As we’ve been learning about the freedom we have Christ, we’ve also been asking ourselves some hard but needed questions about repentance and where it fits into the life of a believer. *** Do we actually repent? As believers and followers of Christ, where is our repentance? Do we apologize, repent, or seek forgiveness when we’ve sinned? Are we willing to admit that we are ever at fault? ***  We chat with Josh, one of our trusted mentors, about being authentic and honest about our shortcomings and sin, and how that should look in the body of Christ so that we can truly encourage and pray for one another.

It’s a candid conversation about a topic that seems complex and painful, but is actually a simple kindness, one that God wants us to partake in, because on the other side is freedom and joy and buckets full of grace. So grab a coffee or cuppa tea and listen in as Josh sheds some light on this for us! And as always, we’d love to hear from you, so make sure you email us your feedback, or leave a review on iTunes!

Thanks so much for listening!

For me the reason we don’t repent like we should is based in our misunderstanding of our identity in Christ.
Here is what i mean, you said we are all sinners? Well in Christ we are saints who sin! And in this identity our sin would be more meaningful in the harmful sense with our relationship with Christ. I’ve talked with Josh about this and i hope he would agree some what?
